The place

A large building in front of which sits a padlocked container. A side door (west side) protected by sheet metal bears the inscription "Welcome"... Bizarre, you said...? New, locked window and door frames. Apparently reserved for alp herders, even though the IGN 1:25,000 "Beaufortain" map assigns it an open-shelter pictogram! As of today, 24/01/2024, I confirm that the chalet section is closed off by a door inside the woodshed. Caution: an order bans travel on the road from the TDF relay station known as "le detchu," adding 3 km on foot before you even see the snow. Via a trail climbing in switchbacks through meadows and forest, apparently not very busy, from Trébutine, in the Grande Maison valley (Glaize torrent). About 1 h 30, depending on whether there's snow or not...
