The place

Refuge at 1515 m in the Haute Chaîne du Jura Nature Reserve, in the commune of Collonges (Ain). Fairly demanding access from Collonges via a very steep path, icy in winter — allow 3h30 from the village, especially with a full pack. In good condition, about 15 mattresses upstairs, stove and plenty of crockery. Handy woodshed with a saw. Striking view over the whole Mont-Blanc range, the Swiss Alps as far as the Écrins massif; at the foot of the mountain, the vast plain of the Pays de Gex and Lake Geneva with the city of Geneva and its famous water jet. Nature reserve: dogs (even on a leash), fires, camping, foraging, motorised vehicles and dumping of rubbish are forbidden.
