Cesjacks Hut

The place

Stockmen's hut built in 1944 by Cecil O'Brien and John Bolton ("Cec & Jack's Hut"), located east of Jagungal on the edge of Kosciuszko National Park (New South Wales, Australia), at approximately 1,725 meters elevation, near the site of the former Moulds Hut, about 360 km southwest of Sydney. Building approximately 6.5 × 3 meters with corrugated-iron walls, a massive stone, cement and iron chimney, corrugated-iron roofing, and a wooden floor. Used for seasonal grazing (1,500 sheep and 35 cattle driven up from Kalkite each summer from 1943 to 1958, until grazing above 1,370 m was stopped). Maintained by the Pastures Protection Board in the 1960s (chimney rebuilt with cement mortar), then by the Macquarie Mountaineering Society from the 1970s onward (new sleeping platform 1974, fence rebuilt). Notable alpine heritage, open access via the KNP track network.
