Central Te Hoe Hut
The place
Unstaffed Department of Conservation hut at 533 m in the Whirinaki Te Pua-a-Tāne Conservation Park, on New Zealand's east coast. Capacity for up to fifteen people. Access by crossing a suspension bridge over the Te Hoe Stream. The most remote hut in the Whirinaki sector, sharing the same design as Central Whirinaki Hut. Mostly used by hunters and anglers, set in a beautiful clearing beside the Te Hoe Stream. No advance booking: purchase a Standard Hut Ticket from a store and deposit it in the payment box, or a Backcountry Hut Pass for unlimited access.
Getting there
Access from Mangakahika Hut in 4 h, or from Upper Te Hoe in 5 h. Crossing a suspension bridge over the Te Hoe Stream.
