The place

Standard eight-bunk hut managed by the Department of Conservation (DOC) in Ruahine Forest Park, Manawatu/Whanganui region (North Island, New Zealand), at 730 metres elevation, on a flat clearing surrounded by regenerating native vegetation. Access from Tamaki West Road via Stanfield Hut. Rates until 30 June 2026: NZ$10/night adult, NZ$5 youth (5-17 years), free under 5. No booking required, payment by Standard Hut Ticket deposited in the honesty box or by annual Backcountry Hut Pass.
