Casera Vescovà
The place
A high-altitude bivouac at 1862 m at the foot of Monte Talvena, in the municipality of Sedico within the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park (Veneto). Built in 2006 on the site of a former, demolished sheepfold, reusing the original stones, it belongs to the State and is managed by the Ufficio Territoriale per la Biodiversità di Belluno. The building includes a kitchen and six sleeping spots (three blankets available), with water found a little further down on the descent trail. It serves both as a base for the Corpo Forestale rangers and as a shelter for hikers on trail CAI 536. Open year-round.
Getting there
Trail CAI 536 at the foot of the Talvena. A popular loop route with the nearby Casera La Vareta. Water point a few meters below.
