Casera I Ronch
The place
Casera at 1324 m in the municipality of Belluno, on the north-facing slope of Monte Serva, opposite the Schiara and Pelf massifs — at the heart of the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park. Buildings dating from the first half of the 19th century, likely managed as civic property by local communities. Used as a malga (alpine dairy) until World War II, with 30 cows and a few sheep. Served as a refuge during the partisan resistance, then was abandoned from 1945 until its reconstruction in 2009, when it was dedicated to Don Francesco Cassol, a Salesian priest. Always open. Fireplace, table with benches, 6-place mezzanine in addition to 5 beds on the ground floor. Water available on the east side of the building or 15 minutes upstream. Elevation gain ~519 m, ~5h round trip from the Col di Roanza via trail 161.
