Casera Fontana
The place
Valley-floor casera located in the Val Cimoliana, at the heart of the Dolomiti Friulane (Friuli-Venezia Giulia). Situated at the end of the long forest track that climbs the valley from Cimolais for about eight kilometers, it serves as a starting point for excursions to the high-altitude bivouacs — notably to the Bivacco Casera Laghet di Sora and the Bivacco Marchi-Granzotto via the Forcella del Leone. Large car park nearby, alongside the stream. Typical mineral setting of the Dolomiti Friulane, a deep valley flanked by high rock walls.
Getting there
From Cimolais, about 8 km of forest track up the Val Cimoliana. Car park alongside the stream. Starting point for Laghet, Marchi-Granzotto, Forcella del Leone.
