Serviced hut with 36 bunks run by DOC in Arthur's Pass National Park (Canterbury), at 816 m. Radio contact with the Arthur's Pass Visitor Centre during opening hours (8:30 am - 4:30 pm daily except Christmas Day); some groups have difficulty reaching the centre, read the instructions carefully. Wood stove for heating. Bring cooking utensils and equipment. Route with numerous river crossings — avoid in heavy rain or flood conditions ("If in doubt, stay out"). Rates until 30 June 2026: adult NZ$25, youth NZ$12.50, children free. Online booking until 30 June 2027; same-day until 8 pm subject to availability.
