The place
Social hut at 1000 m in the Acquerino Forest biogenetic nature reserve, municipality of Sambuca Pistoiese, about 2 km from the Corpo Forestale dello Stato barracks. Inaugurated on 26 July 2014 by the CAI Alto Appennino Bolognese section of Porretta Terme, to whom the Forest Corps entrusted the building. Simple single-room structure, running water and wood-stove heating, no electricity. Overnight accommodation is not currently offered, but the fitted-out outdoor area with tables and benches makes it an excellent picnic spot. Accessible by car (except in snowy winter) or via the marked "Sentiero del Cervo" trail.
