The place
A hut belonging to the Patriziato di Sementina on the Alpe Mognone at 1,463 m (Ticino, Switzerland), with a panoramic view over Lake Maggiore and Lake Lugano. Formerly used as a shepherd's farm; the first building was renovated by the Patriziato, with restoration completed in 1996 thanks to volunteers. 12 places in a single dormitory. Facilities: gas stove, hot water, wood stove, fireplace. Access: 2-3.5 hours' walk through the forest from San Defendente / Sementina up to the pass. Open year-round except when reserved exclusively for groups; no key pickup needed. Sleeping bag required for overnight stays.
