The place

CAI hut in the province of Varese (Seven Lakes region), Italy, at 1,498 m elevation, near the Swiss border. Located in a small valley below the summit of Monte Polà, south-east facing towards Monte Lema and Lake Maggiore, sheltered to the north by the border ridge which reaches 1,700 m. About a 4-hour hike to reach. Hut managed by the CAI sections of Varese, Milano and local groups. View over the seven lakes of Varese (Lago Maggiore/Verbano, Varese, Lugano/Ceresio, Ghirla, Ganna, Monate, Comabbio).
