The place

A former chestnut-drying shed restored by the municipality of Calci as part of efforts to promote the protected areas of the Monti Pisani, in Tuscany. Entrusted to the Pisa section of the Italian Alpine Club after its opening in 2015, the building serves as a base for environmental hiking and territorial-education activities. Located near the Campo di Croce pass on ridge trail 00, close to the ruins of an old ice house and the protected Valle delle Fonti area. Regulated access: opening depends on a CAI team being present; outside of specific events, the building stays closed.
