The place
Old, partly ruined hut at 1150 m in the Valle San Giacomo, municipality of Zafferana Etnea, on the eastern slopes of Mount Etna (Sicily). A historic building now serving as a landmark on hiking routes — notably those passing the "leccio monumentale" (monumental holm oak), Capanna del Ghiro and Scalazza, or via Val Calanna and Strada Cugno di Mezzo. No designated picnic area. A very basic shelter, of interest mainly for its history and volcanic setting.
