The place
Capanna d'Afata in the Verzasca Valley, Sonogno/Frasco area (a side valley of Ticino, canton of Ticino, Switzerland), at 1682 m altitude, a summer alpine pasture hut of the Ticino Alps. Part of the continuous Switzerland Ticino cluster (batches 220-332). A historic alpine hut belonging to Corippo (the smallest village in Switzerland, population 12 in 2011, which became an albergo diffuso and attempted UNESCO heritage status), in an area of alpine pastures and Ticino larches overlooking Onsernone, part of the heritage of the secolare emigrazione (Ticino emigration to California/Australia, 1830s-1900, 30,000 people leaving as "spazzacamini" chimney sweeps in Milan).
