The place
The Capanna Corno Gries is a Swiss Alpine Club hut belonging to the Rossberg (Zug) section, perched at 2338 m in the Val Corno, in the upper Val Bedretto in Ticino, above Alpe di Cruina and All'Acqua. Opened in 1927 and expanded in 2007, its contemporary architecture — nicknamed "the alpine spaceship" — offers a panoramic 50-seat dining room and 46 sleeping places across eight rooms. Careful cooking based on Ticino specialities. Fast summer access in under an hour from Alpe Cruina. In winter, a climb of about 3h from All'Acqua on skis or snowshoes, reserved for experienced hikers.
