Capanna Corno-Gries
The place
Swiss Alpine Club hut at 2338 m in the Val Corno, north-east of the Grieshorn and above the Nufenen pass road, in the Val Bedretto (Ticino). Inaugurated in 1927, extended in 2007; owned by the SAC Rossberg section of Zug since 2017 (previously SAC Bellinzona). A dining room seating around 50 with 360° panoramic views, 46 beds in eight rooms. Wood heating, mains and solar-panel lighting. Summer access from the Alpe di Cruina (2002 m, Nufenen pass road) in 1h (T2). Winter access from All'Acqua in ~3h, recommended for experienced ski tourers or snowshoers. An area suited to family hikes, ski touring and snowshoeing, around alpine lakes and glaciers.
