Refugio Cognora: an oasis of tranquility in the Lepontine Alps Refugio Cognora, located in the charming municipality of Sonogno, in the canton of Ticino, in the Vegornèss valley of the Lepontine Alps, is an alpine refuge nestled at 1,938 meters elevation. General Information Inauguration: 1986. Layout: two floors with a single dining room seating up to 20 people. Equipment: wood and gas cooking options with kitchen utensils available. Bathrooms and running water inside the building. Wood heating. Lighting powered by solar panels. The 18 beds are arranged in a single dormitory.
