Capanna Alpe Masnee
The place
Rifugio Alpe Masnée at 2063 m, owned by the Patriziato di Maggia, in the Valle del Salto on the ridge between Vallemaggia and Valle Verzasca (municipality of Maggia, canton of Ticino, Switzerland — Lepontine Alps). A group of 5 small alpine farmhouses inaugurated in 2010, well integrated into the surroundings. Free refuge, generally unstaffed. Kitchen equipped with wood and gas stoves; drinks and food can be purchased. Access from Maggia: start from the top of the village above the majestic Salto waterfall, next to the beautiful Salto vineyard — 5 h 30. From Brione Verzasca: ~4 h 30. An important stage of the Via Alta Vallemaggia, a high-altitude trail that runs the length of the Vallemaggia over 19 stages and 200 km.
