Camona da Maighels
The place
High-altitude hut of the Swiss Alpine Club (Piz Terri section) at 2310 m, in the municipality of Tujetsch (Grisons, Switzerland), in a side valley of the Surselva, at the heart of the Saint-Gotthard group. Romansh name: Camona da Maighels (German: Maighelshütte). Accessible from the Oberalp Pass in ~1h30-2h, with several approach routes from Uri, Ticino or Grisons; a scenic alternative route via the Lai da Tuma / Tomasee (source of the Rhine). A comfortable, family-friendly hut with 83 beds in 6 rooms. An ideal base camp for summer hiking, winter ski touring, climbing (two climbing areas nearby) and multi-day tours toward Ticino, Andermatt or the Gotthard.
