Cameron Hut

The place

Basic 9-bunk club hut of the Canterbury Mountaineering Club, in Hakatere Conservation Park (Rangitata/Rakaia area, Canterbury). Set among the moraine deposits of the Cameron Glacier — panoramic views of the Arrowsmith Range. Access: a 6 h / 15.6 km walk up the Cameron Valley on a marked route. From Hakatere Heron Road, ~1.6 km past Mt Arrowsmith Station, then ~1.4 km on an unmarked 4WD track to the foot of the valley. **Free for CMC members**; non-members: rates on the CMC website.
