Cabane sur pilotis ACA du Baudillouns

The place

Former wooden caving hut on stilts built in 1969 by the old Nice caving club ACA, at 1250 m just east of the Aven du Baudilloun, 15 min on foot from the Calern Observatory. Served as a base for exploring the aven and the caves of the plateau; spacious, comfortable structure with sleeping platforms and mattresses, a large communal table, good insulation and a wood stove. Raised on stilts to protect against damp and the plateau's numerous scorpions. Destroyed by fire — only the four concrete stilt foundations remain. Still listed as a historical record of caving in Nice.
