Cabane pastorale de Grauson Dessus

The place

Pastoral hut at 2548 m in the Grauson valley, near Cogne (Aosta Valley, Italy). Very basic shelter left unlocked when the shepherd is away: packed-earth floor, 1 table, 2 benches, 1 metal bed frame, gas stove and 1 mattress hung from the ceiling to protect it from animals. Water from a fountain behind the hut. More of an emergency shelter in bad weather than regular accommodation.
