Cabane Frédy Meylan
The place
Unstaffed cabin at 1280 m in the District du Jura-Nord vaudois (canton of Vaud, Switzerland), at the heart of the Parc naturel régional du Jura vaudois. A refuge dedicated to the memory of Frédy Meylan, a local figure in the associative sector and in the preservation of the Jura's rural built heritage. A basic, freely accessible building, a rustic stopover for hikers and cross-country skiers crossing the wooded highland pastures of the Jura. Forested setting typical of the Vaud Jura: beech-fir woods, characteristic wooded pastures (dotted with spruce), emblematic cultural landscapes of the PNR Jura vaudois created in 2013. Emblematic wildlife: Jura chamois, Eurasian lynx (reintroduced in the 1980s), capercaillie, roe deer, red squirrel. Located just off the main routes of the Vallée de Joux (Le Chenit, Le Brassus, Le Lieu) and the Park's themed trails.
