The place
Unmanned forest cabin at 880 m in the wider Jura area (Doubs or Comtois foreland, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté). Located on the fringe of the central Doubs forest massifs, in typical Jura plateau landscapes — fir forests, beech forests, hedged pastures. A former forestry building converted into an open shelter, a rustic stopover for hikers and local hunters. Typical of the northern Jura: mid-altitude forests, karst dolines, springs and seasonal streams. Emblematic wildlife: roe deer, wild boar, Jura chamois, Eurasian lynx (reintroduced in the 1980s), capercaillie in preserved areas. Located on the fringe of the Haut-Jura Regional Nature Park and local Comtois trails. Possible stage on the Grande Traversée du Jura (GTJ) or on cross-border France-Switzerland themed loops.
