Cabane forestière du Poyet

The place

Forestry cabin at 1600 m in the Matheysine massif (Isère), primarily intended for forestry workers but left open to the public. No reservation, no key. Very clean and welcoming interior: bunk beds with mattresses, table, benches, chairs, shelves with kitchen utensils, stove, gas burner. Capacity 6 people (8 if squeezed in) upstairs. Fountain nearby. Used and regularly maintained by ONF staff. Access by car from Nantes-en-Ratier via the Col de Malissol then a forest road toward the hamlet of Le Poyet, car park past La Grande Combe; on foot via a yellow-marked trail toward the Fontaine de Bigasset and the Piquet de Nantes.
