Cabane du Sellet
The place
Small stone cabin open to all, set at 910 m in the Cévennes National Park (Lozère), about 4 km as the crow flies east of Florac Trois Rivières. Located at the intersection of the major GR 68 and GR 70 routes (the Stevenson Trail — the route Robert Louis Stevenson travelled in 1878 with his donkey Modestine, immortalised in "Travels with a Donkey in the Cévennes"). Building equipped with a fireplace and a narrow sleeping platform. Reasonable capacity for one person alone, but very difficult for two, and near impossible for more. Exceptional setting: Cévennes National Park (created in 1970, UNESCO biosphere since 1985, UNESCO-listed "Causses et Cévennes" landscapes), limestone causses and Cévennes schist. Emblematic fauna: golden eagle, griffon vulture (reintroduced in 1981), capercaillie, grey wolf (spontaneous return), genet. Major waypoint on the GR 70 Stevenson Trail and the GR 68 Tour du Mont Lozère — a historic and heritage stopover.

4 km east of Florac Trois Rivières. Intersection of GR 68 and GR 70 (Stevenson). Capacity 1 person (a couple would find it difficult).
