Cabane du pont du Vieux Dun
The place
Unstaffed cabin located at 380 m along a PR (short-distance hiking) trail, about 200 m northwest of the Pont du Vieux Dun, along the Cure river (Morvan, Nièvre, Burgundy). A basic building with a table inside, better suited to a day shelter than an overnight stay — outdoor bivouacking possible on the banks of the Cure. Located in the Morvan Regional Nature Park, created in 1970, near the Pont du Vieux Dun (a slab-built structure, part of the Morvan's built heritage). An exceptional forested setting in the central Morvan: oak groves, beech forests, planted fir forests, rivers and ponds, landscapes typical of mid-altitude Burgundy. Iconic wildlife: roe deer, wild boar, red deer, red squirrel, pine marten, eagle owl, red kite. A popular stop for hikers on the Park's themed trails, a stage on the Tour du Morvan and the loops around the Grands Lacs (Lac des Settons, Lac de Saint-Agnan, Lac de Pannecière).
