Cabane du Plan de la Citerne
The place
Unstaffed cabin set at 1202 m in the Jura massif, in the Vaud Jura sector (canton of Vaud, Switzerland, or the French Franche-Comté foreland depending on the exact sector). A basic waypoint shelter: minimal facilities — table and bench seating 4 people, mezzanine for 4 additional sleeping spots. No stove, no water — a purely transit shelter. Located on the Jura plateaus among wooded pastures, landscapes typical of the cross-border France-Switzerland Jura karst. A mid-altitude forest setting: beech-fir woods, hedgerow meadows, karst dolines. Emblematic Jura wildlife: roe deer, wild boar, Jura chamois, Eurasian lynx (reintroduced in the 1980s), capercaillie. A possible stopover on routes linking the Vallée de Joux, La Givrine and the Jura ridges. A quick stop for a break or emergency shelter — bring a sleeping bag and water for an overnight stay.
