Cabane du Louvet
The place
Small unstaffed cabin at 1605 m in the Belledonne massif (Isère), considered one of the best shelters in the area — a very comfortable space in a remarkable setting. Capacity of around 5 people. Facilities: working wood stove, interior well insulated from the cold, water source nearby. Usage note: the stove produces a lot of smoke, so it is recommended to use it only down to embers, then wait. A precaution worth noting: mice are present — do not leave food on the tables. Located in the northern Belledonne sector (towards the Sept-Laux), a popular stopover for hikers on overnight trips for ascents of the massif's iconic summits (Croix de Belledonne 2926 m, Grand Pic de Belledonne 2978 m). A mineral and forested setting typical of the high Belledonne valleys: spruce, larch, summer alpine pastures, and iconic wildlife such as chamois, marmot, black grouse, and rock ptarmigan.
