Cabane du Couret
The place
The Cabane du Couret is an unstaffed cabin at 1420 m altitude in the Hautes-Pyrénées, just above the Col du Couret. Fully renovated in 1993 by the Altitude TT Sport Montgaillard association, it offers a carefully kept level of comfort: a single room under a sloped wooden ceiling, a fireplace with an oculus, a two-tier sleeping platform for 4, a large wooden table and fixed benches. Magnificent view of the surrounding peaks. Water at the Las Sourdès springs, about 800 m southeast below Cuq Crémail (west side), or 1 km south of the cabin on the trail towards Cuq Crémail. Recommended access via the GR87 from Cheust or Germs-sur-l'Oussouet, then the southern variant towards the Couret.
