The place
The Cabane du berger de Chillol is an open pastoral cabin at 2463 m in the upper Ubaye (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence), between Saint-Paul-sur-Ubaye and Maljasset. Renovated in 2004 and left open by the shepherd in winter, it is occupied from August by about 1500 head of livestock. Sleeping: one large bed on the ground floor for 2 people and 2 mattresses with blankets in the loft, plus a table and benches. Water nearby. Access from La Blachière via the Chillol stream valley, with a recent footbridge over the Ubaye.
