The place
Former cross-country ski chalet converted into an unstaffed cabin at 1343 m in the municipality of Saint-Pierre-d'Allevard (Belledonne, Isère). Contact: 04 76 45 11 10. According to recent visitor reports, insulation is very poor and heating is difficult due to numerous holes in the roof. Equipment: a stove and apparently usable beds. Rustic stopover mainly used as an emergency shelter or overnight stage. Classic access by climbing from the hamlet of Montarmand above La Ferrière (Bréda valley). Belledonne forest setting: fir stands, alpine pastures, panorama over the Belledonne peaks (Croix de Belledonne 2926 m, Grand Pic de Belledonne 2978 m). Emblematic wildlife: chamois, marmot, alpine ptarmigan, golden eagle, black grouse. Located on the fringe of the major Belledonne routes, Sept-Laux and Col du Glandon area.
