Cabane des Pics Noirs

The place

Wooden cabin at 1220 m in the Bornes-Aravis area (Haute-Savoie). Rebuilt by a dedicated individual between September 2014 and April 2015 on the exact site of the previous, destroyed cabin. Access by car from Usillon: at the exit of Nant Sec, turn right onto the road climbing to the Plateau des Glières then head toward La Verrerie / les Molliets on a narrow road that turns into a trail; parking at 805 m at the Passerelle des Molliets, trailhead. Caution: trail crosses avalanche gullies with slightly exposed sections requiring care, especially on a wet trail; risk of rockfall. Source des Pics Noirs at 1228 m nearby.
