Cabane des Pâtres
The place
Basic cabin at 1384 m in its valley below the Col de Seysse, in the Diois and Baronnies massif (Drôme). A basic building serving as shelter in bad weather — steel roof and frame redone in November 2016. Average insulation with draughts, no dishes or table and benches. A setting typical of the Diois — mid-altitude limestone mountains in transition between the southern Vercors and the Provençal Prealps: downy oak groves, high-altitude beech-fir woods, Mediterranean dry meadows, landscapes typical of the Parc naturel régional du Vercors and the foothills of the Glandasse. Emblematic wildlife: roe deer, chamois (reintroduced), golden eagle, griffon vulture, peregrine falcon, Egyptian vulture. Located just off the Bergerie de Lachau (1460 m) and the Refuge de La Tour de Borne (1340 m, staffed). A stop on the trails linking the Diois to the Baronnies provençales.
