Cabane des Cloutons
The place
Pastoral hut of the municipality of Villard-Saint-Christophe, set at 1,914 m in the Taillefer-Matheysine massif (Isère), reserved for shepherds during summer grazing — public visual access but not for overnight stays. A remarkable location well known to residents of Grenoble, offering a superb panorama over all the surrounding massifs: Chartreuse, Vercors, Grandes Rousses, Taillefer, Belledonne. Classic access from Saint-Honoré 1500 following the GR 549, passing above the Croix des Gourets (1,684 m), the hut being above and north of the Cloutons ski lift. Exceptional mineral and lake-dotted setting of the Taillefer-Matheysine, the Tabor lakes area (Lac Fourchu, Lac Noir, Lac de Charvet) and the emblematic summit of the Tabor de la Matheysine (2,389 m). Emblematic wildlife: chamois (reintroduced population), marmot, rock ptarmigan, golden eagle, black grouse. Active summer hut, to be strictly respected.
