Cabane des Clos de Dessus

The place

Hut at 2023 m in the Couflens valley (Couserans Est, Ariège), difficult mountain access. Destroyed in 2004 by an avalanche then rebuilt. Fitted with 2 mattressed beds, a working stove and a water point nearby; no firewood available on site. Since 2023, the main hut has been closed to hikers, reserved during summer for local shepherds and hunters with keys. An adjoining lean-to provides basic accommodation for about 2 people, precarious conditions but appreciated by visitors. An old hut of the same name lies in ruins further down the valley.
