The place

Sleeping capacity: 8 Mattress spaces: 3 The refuge is maintained by the pastoral association. The section to the right of the refuge appears (according to the logbook) to be used only as storage for equipment. Very well equipped, on the ground floor: a tiled floor, a table, a giant stove, three outlets (car cigarette-lighter type) allow devices to be plugged in. Cupboards hold cooking utensils and other essentials (salt, pepper and grenadine syrup) On the first floor, three mattresses and 3 blankets provide all the comfort needed. The refuge is new. There are 8 sleeping spaces in total. There is no permanent water source nearby, but there is a water reserve (a tank of nearly 1000 L) on the east side of the cabin. There is a saw, but firewood is not close by. The chalet is very well insulated. WARNING: Near the refuge, the Grande Vaudaine combe is PRIVATE property and a PRIVATE hunting ground. Access is forbidden. (see discussion on the forum) From the forest road above Traverse, either at the hairpin bend or a bit further on past the captured springs. Access can be difficult in spring or simply in wet weather. The Chalanches pastoral association
