The place

Traditional stone pastoral hut set at 2370 m in the upper Ubaye valley, municipality of Saint-Paul-sur-Ubaye (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence), in a magnificent and isolated setting where passers-by are very rare. The building belongs to the municipality of Saint-Paul-sur-Ubaye, which keeps it open year-round. A very old hut representative of the traditional stone constructions of the high Ubaye valleys — no longer occupied by a shepherd but still in good condition. Classic access: climb the Vallée de Teste to the Combe de Miejour, where the hut stands at the entrance to the combe near a former sheepfold. Exceptional mineral setting of the high Ubaye Alps: subalpine meadows, rock walls, panorama over the Cottian peaks and the Italian border. Emblematic wildlife: chamois, reintroduced ibex, marmot, golden eagle, bearded vulture. An isolated stopover favored by hikers seeking authenticity and solitude, near other pastoral huts (Bergerie Inférieure and Supérieure de Mary, Cabane Allix).
