Cabane de Tabanière
The place
Former pastoral hut restored in 2019 by the Panorama de Miglos association, set at 1575 m on the eastern edge of the Pla du Four (Haute-Ariège), far from any waymarked hiking trail — accessible by 4x4 only. The building is made up of two parts: on the left, a sleeping platform for 4 people with a fireplace and a sink with water; on the right, a table, chairs and a barbecue grill. Capacity of 4 in summer and winter, open year-round, equipped with a fireplace and access to water. A rare and valuable stopover in a little-frequented area — a minimal but functional welcome thanks to the local association's efforts. Exceptional mineral and pastoral setting of the Pla du Four: summer pastures, karst valleys, isolated beech woods. Emblematic wildlife: chamois, marmot (reintroduced in 1948), golden eagle, bearded vulture, Pyrenean brown bear occasionally reported. Located on the fringe of the Ariège Pyrenees Regional Nature Park and the major Couserans routes. To be used with care and upkeep.
