The place

Unstaffed open shelter at 2260 m in the Cerdagne-Capcir (Pyrénées-Orientales), on the GR 7 and GR 10. On a grassy shelf, spectacular view of the Lac de Lanoux (the largest lake in the Pyrenees) and the south face of the Carlit. Solid but small, minimal equipment: a concrete slab for a maximum of 4 people. No means of heating (fireplace removed). Sleeping on concrete, fairly spartan, bring a sleeping mat. Wood scarce. No water immediately nearby (spring 5 minutes away, needs treating — grazing area). At the crossing of 4 routes: from Porté-Puymorens via the Lanoux dam, via the Orlu valley, via the Besines valley and the Col d'Anyell, or via the upper Têt valley and the Portella de la Grava.
