The place

Unmanned cabin at 1520 m in the Beaufortain massif (Savoie, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes). Living area with table, benches and stove; one outward-facing window and another opening onto an enclosed lean-to for wood storage. Particularly clean according to visitors: leave the shelter tidy and bring wood before leaving. Ideal starting point for the Col de la Louze. Access from Grand Naves via the Darbeleys, or via the Glaize valley from the Grande Maison along a narrow forest road branching off the D 93 at the 1111 m point — a narrow road used by tractors and logging convoys, not cleared of snow in winter.
