Cabane de l'Oberegg
The place
Swiss Alpine Club cabin (La Gruyère section) at 1818 m at the place called Hürli, between the Col du Jaun and the Hundsrügg, on the latter's northwest secondary summit (canton of Bern, Fribourg border). Splendid panorama of the Bernese and Valais Alps on one side, and the Gastlosen on the other. Accessible in about 1h on foot from the Col du Jaun (1504 m, reachable by TPF bus or car) via a road that is off-limits to vehicles (turning into a driveable trail higher up), through Oberenegg Läger to the two lower Hürli chalets. Capacity: 8 people, booking required. Open from mid-September to mid-June, every weekend from Saturday noon to Sunday 4pm. Soup, hot or cold drinks, wines, beers and spirits available.
