Cabane de Montmain
The place
Unstaffed forestry cabin set at 582 m in the Bois de Montmain (municipality of Montmain, Côte-d'Or, Burgundy), at the crossroads of several trails in the Morvan Regional Nature Park or its foothills toward Langres. A well-maintained, free-access building, a popular mid-altitude stop for local hikers and hunters. A forested setting typical of northern Burgundy: oak groves, beech forests, hornbeam groves, hedgerow meadows, cultural landscapes of the eastern Morvan. Iconic Burgundy wildlife: roe deer, wild boar, badger, fox, red squirrel, as well as forest birds (black woodpecker, tawny owl, Eurasian jay). Located on the fringe of the Côte-d'Or's large network of forestry cabins, in the Auxois-Morvan area, a stop on the GR 2 (Seine trail) and GR 7 (Pyrénées-Vosges) trails that cross the Burgundy forests.
