The place

Old shepherd's hut at 1730 m in the Mercantour-Argentera (Colmars-les-Alpes, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence). Marked "in ruins" on maps, it has only received minimal restoration. Slightly off the GRP Tour du Haut Verdon, on a path leading to the Laupon. Sleeping possible in the loft area (about 3 people); average insulation with drafts but a metal roof providing decent shelter. Warning: the ridge beam and mezzanine floor are at risk of collapsing due to significant water infiltration; without major repairs, this hut could be gone within two years.
