The place
Small unstaffed hut at 1,570 m in the Port de Salau valley, commune of Ustou in Ariège (Occitanie). Built next to the ruins of an earlier structure, it offers two places on the floor (no bunk), a hearth with wood available and access to water. According to a report from September 2025, the hut is said to be padlocked shut, a sign of a recent access restriction — checking beforehand is recommended.
