The place

Hut at 1998 m in the Écrins National Park (core zone, Matheysine, Isère). Occupied in summer by a shepherd; a neighbouring stone shelter serves as storage for wood, tools and the shepherd's equipment. 5 clean mattresses and 5 more worn ones, excellent thermal insulation (which can turn the refuge into a sauna), stove with space to heat a dish, table for about 6 people and 2 benches, firewood and surrounding larch forest. Source du Touret 20 m away, very abundant flow. Access via the GR du Valbonnais and Lac Labarre from Valsenestre, via the GR du Valbonnais and the Confolens waterfalls from the waterfall car park (1100 m, about 3 h), or via the Brèche du Périer from Lac Lauvitel.
