The place
Unstaffed log cabin set at 640 m in the Hautes-Vosges massif (southern Vosges area, commune of Mollau or surroundings, Haut-Rhin). Open-access building, built in the typical local log-cabin style. Facilities: 2 tables and 1 barbecue. A day-stop popular with walkers and hikers doing loop routes in the southern Hautes-Vosges area. Typical Vosges forest setting: beech-fir forests on the Alsace-facing slope, Club Vosgien trails linking Mollau, Saint-Amarin and the Thann valley. Emblematic wildlife: roe deer, wild boar, red squirrel, capercaillie in the preserved areas. Located on the edge of the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park, near neighbouring cabins (Abri des Tilleuls at 590 m, Abri du Markstein). A convivial stop for a picnic or outdoor meal around the barbecue. No sleeping accommodation.
Getting there
Club Vosgien trails from Mollau or Saint-Amarin (Haut-Rhin). Day stop with barbecue, no overnight stay.
