The place

The Cabane de La Motte is an unstaffed shelter at 1882 m altitude in the Beaufortain massif (Savoie). Restored in stone in 2006 by the ACCA (Approved Communal Hunting Association) and the commune of Queige. It houses a long sleeping platform with a table, benches and an excellent stove. A spring runs 3 m from the hut; toilets have been set up downhill to the north, about twenty metres away via a small path. A sector heavily exposed to avalanches that regularly sweep the north and north-west slopes of Mont Mirantin (an older hut there was destroyed).
