Cabane de la Lauzate (ou du Mt Fourcat)

The place

Unstaffed cabin at 1,883 m altitude on the flanks of Mont Fourcat, in the Sabarthès (Ariège). Also called Cabane du Mont Fourcat or Cabane des Bergers du Fourcat. Permanently closed following repeated acts of vandalism. Originally built for shepherds during the summer grazing season. Fireplace and wooden sleeping platforms inside. Classic access via the west-north-west ridge of Mont Fourcat, from Croquié via the Col du Traucadou.
